In September 2003, the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) launched a public research consortium named ENCODE (the Encyclopedia Of DNA Elements) to carry out a project to identify all functional elements in the human genome sequence. It involved a very large consortium of scientists. The project, which ended in September 2012, produced some surprising results. First of all, around 80% of the human genome, which was previously considered to be ‘Junk DNA’, is now shown to be functional, acting, for example, as a binding site for regulatory proteins and exerting an influence on protein-coding DNA.
The cell is a complex city of working parts with miniature machines constantly building and repairing the cell. We are expected to believe that these extremely complex ‘machines’ just evolved by chance. In fact, the evidence clearly shows that every part of the cell is totally reliant on all of its individual parts to be in place for the cell to be fully functional. In other words, if the cell evolved, all of the parts had to be formed at the very same moment for it to work. It could not have formed by slow gradual processes as evolutionists would have us believe.
The kinesin is a miniature machine involved in transferring large packets of DNA from one part of the cell to another. This sort of operation is only observed when we see intelligent design.
One of the most devastating discoveries as far as evolutionists are concerned is that DNA is deletorious, meaning that it is possible for information to be lost from DNA (which is how we get mutations and cross-breeds) or for information to be duplicated, thereby increasing the genome size, but new information cannot be added. If a dog with hair is taken from a cold climate to a warmer climate, it might lose some or all of its hair. The hair is encoded in its DNA. If, however, you take a dog with no hair from a warm climate to a colder climate, it will die of cold, as it cannot grow hair because such information is not contained within its DNA. This provides evolutionists with a big headache as it means that the theory of evolution is not supported by DNA mechanics. Also, errors occur in the DNA make-up, which means that with each new generation, the number of errors increase. To support evolution, the opposite would need to occur.
To get around this conundrum, we are finding that evolutionists are having to re-evaluate their stance. Richard Dawkins, who is a staunch supporter of evolution, is falling back on the suggestion that mankind may have been seeded on this planet by aliens from another world. As to how these aliens ‘evolved’ is another matter! More importantly, by adopting this theory of seeding by aliens, Mr Dawkins is merely substituting the aliens for the Almighty. He is relying on evolution having occurred elsewhere, yet the basic scientific principles, which shows that everything is in a state of entropy, are still an obstacle for scientists to overcome.
